About the role
Head of Business Systems and ICT
£75,900
This role has an organisation-wide remit to ensure that our ICT and Business systems are fit for purpose, easy to use, and that we're always just ahead of the next challenge.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you’ll be accountable for the full portfolio of business IT and IS services across the entire organisation, including their effective integration with our network of food banks. You’ll bring outstanding expertise in planning and delivering innovative technology strategies which will advance our vital mission, and ensure everything we do is underpinned by excellent, responsive and user-led ICT systems.
Overseeing infrastructure and security, business systems and our CRM platform (Salesforce), you’ll help us build the information architecture we need in a rapidly changing external context. Despite our best efforts, foodbank use is still increasing, and people’s needs are expanding beyond food – toiletries, clothing, warmth and more. So we need to develop new tools and techniques to ensure we’re not only capturing and understanding this emerging profile, but also that we are using this valuable insight to increase our strategic impact, reach and influence.
Our rapid growth in recent years has meant that a number of business systems are in place in the organisation. In this role, you’ll hold a ‘helicopter view’ across all of them, championing development and integration, and ensuring that lead users have a clear understanding of how they need to work together on a strategic level. You could sum it up as being the person who ‘sees the wood for the trees’, and you must be able to communicate our ambition – continuous improvement through cleaner systems – effectively and positively to colleagues.
While innovation will be key to achieving our ambitions for continuous improvement, it can’t be at the cost of reliable, accurate and timely delivery of fundamental functions. You’ll be a visible, sought-after and influential leader within the organisation, and will understand the invaluable benefit of making and sustaining great working relationships. Calm and always able to maintain a ‘big picture’ approach, you will nevertheless work hard to understand the detail of how other parts of the Trust and the network operate. This organisational intelligence, together with an active, two-way dialogue with other managers and leaders, will ensure that you (and your teams) can always make the biggest contribution to our impact.
We’re looking for a systems expert with a deep understanding of how charities work, who can design and communicate the critical path to achieve the deliberate, planned, considered and future-proofed IT infrastructure we want. Able to work well across the business and with a wide range of colleagues, you’ll understand how to support our teams of highly motivated, passionate people, whose vocation has found a home at the Trussell Trust. You must have a track record of engaging fully with business processes and the people who are working within them, as an essential preparatory stage to change or innovation. With a rare ability to do both the big picture and the detail, you’ll share our deep commitment to social justice and change, and will want to play your part in what we’re trying to achieve.
